I used to predominantly take photos close up. I was enamored by the details. I loved water drops, eye lashes, skin textures, abstract shapes. It caught my eye so much that I didn’t want to shoot anything else. I was greatly inspires by people like Felix Ruiz Dies and Paolo Abate who take “simple” images but carry so much emotion and style.
I carry this into my wedding photography but my “documentary style” has been tested. And I have loved it. Now, I adore documentary style the same as a good detail shot. The skill is knowing when to use which in order to convey the moment. I want every photo to be real and to carry a memory. Some, (to me, without context), won’t mean much but to the people I am capturing, it means the world. And that’s all I can really wish for.
